We are happy to announce that Steriltom, with an important transaction, has proceeded with the takeover of the minority shares owned by Emiliana Conserve Spa in Italtom Srl, already controlled by Steriltom.
Today Italtom, which boasts a very modern industrial plant in the Ferrara area, is therefore 100% owned by the Steriltom Group. With this choice Steriltom confirms the intention to consolidate its market position by diversifying its territorial presence in Northern Italy with two production sites, in Gragnano Trebbiense and Argenta.
Dario Squeri, CEO of the Steriltom group commented: "The decision to takeover in 2018 the ex Ferrara Food was not easy and in the recent years, together with all our collaborators, we have had to work hard to ensure growth and profitability of the company. Nevertheless, together we have achieved a good result in which we believe a lot and we have demonstrated it with this last transaction. Thanks to all our colleagues for their commitment in these recent years, which has allowed us to consolidate the Steriltom group as a leader in the Food Service and Industrial channels throughout Europe. In 2021 the Steriltom group achieved a consolidated turnover of 130 million euros and processed over 420 thousand tons of 100% Italian fresh tomatoes and employed more than 700 people”
Steriltom was followed in the acquisition by the Squeri e Associati Srl firm in Piacenza and by the partner Mrs. Silvia Bordi of the Gianni & Origoni law firm in Rome.
The drought that is affecting our areas is worrying, the high temperatures and the absence of rainfall for months have generated such an important drought that Emilia Romagna Region has declared the State of Water Emergency.
STERILTOM, which has always been attentive to sustainability and innovation, implements a well-structured plan against water wasting.
Our farmers work with the most advanced agricultural practices, such as the use of Irrigation Probes for irrigation monitoring: the seedlings are drip irrigated and only when it is really necessary. The probes detect when the soil actually needs water, thus avoiding continuous flow irrigation that would not bring any benefit to the seedlings and in addition would constitute a waste of resources that would have an impact on the community.

Steriltom, as historical supplier of tomato pulp for the Nestlé Group, has made its contribution together with the scientific partner Future Food Institute, to the second edition of the Nestlé Startup Program, the initiative promoted by the Nestlè Group to foster the development of youth entrepreneurship.
In this edition Nestlè has decided to focus on the land, where the raw materials are cultivated with care and attention, with the collaboration of Steriltom. The three finalist startups have been selected, called for implement innovative solutions on the theme of regenerative agriculture and sustainable production models for the tomato supply chain.
Along this path, the startups have devised solutions for the development of eco-friendly consumable substrates in order to improve fertility and soil structure; by making agronomic processes more efficient; detecting the quality and quantity of production through IoT sensors for the study of sounds and vibrations from pollinating insects.
Steriltom, which has always cared about Innovation and Sustainability, is once again at the forefront.

Steriltom once again has decided to sustain the territory, by participating in CIBUS FOOD SAVING, an initiative of the Food Bank of Emilia Romagna region. Thanks to this project, STERILTOM participated with other 150 companies in the collection of 19 tons of food products, destined for different charity organization in the area.
This project not only goes to support people and families in difficulty, but also allows a strong reduction of food waste, a central theme and very close to our company.

The European Pizza and Pasta Show 2019 event in London has seen Steriltom as the main tomato sponsor of the fair. Thanks to the several show cooking and events focused on the pizza and pasta world, we had the opportunity to meet with professionals and put on the front line our tomato pulps.
The event focused on the catering technologies and products held at the Piacenza Expo from 26 to 28 October 2019 has seen Steriltom’s products as one of the main player of the events dedicated to the pizzeria industry.

In May 2019, Steriltom has been named as one of Nestlé Germany's “Top 5 Global Suppliers”. This is an important recognition thanks to the fact that the selection has been made among over 11.000 worldwide suppliers.
Nowadays, Steriltom is the sole Italian company to have obtained this award.

Alessandro Squeri, Steriltom's commercial director, was reconfirmed at the summit of the Federalimentare Youth, the Confindustria confederation which groups together companies in the food sector.

At the 2018 edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto - the largest international event dedicated to sustainable food - Steriltom was present as a partner of the Fucina Pizza&Pane area and Slow Food Italy, showing inside several Pizza workshops its 100% Italian Tomato Pulp as one of the main ingredient.
Group formed by Emiliana Conserve and Steriltom
Thanks to the final acquisition, the Group formed by the two companies of Piacenza, Emiliana Conserve and Steriltom, becomes the first Italian private processing group, with an estimated production of 500 thousand tons. "We brought back confidence to the workers and to the Ferrara agricultural industry. Now we will keep progressing with new investments and for 2019 the goal is to produce, in Argenta, 100 thousand tons compared to 82.000 tons in this first year"
The Italian Ambassador in Japan, Giorgio Starace, and the President of the Italian Trade Agency, Carlo Ferro, have visited the Steriltom stand during the Foodex 2019 exhibition.
